Back pain & neck pain care in Winchester
Back pain and neck pain are two of the problems our treatments most commonly help. Here is how we approach them.
Finding the cause
Back and neck pain can come from many places: stiff or restricted joints, tight or strained muscles, posture, work and lifting habits, or an old injury that never quite settled down. At your first visit we talk about your history and symptoms, then do a thorough exam to find what is driving your pain.
We explain what we find in plain language and build a plan that fits your goals, whether that is sleeping through the night, getting back to work or picking up your kids without pain.
How we help
Specific chiropractic adjustments. A precise, controlled movement applied to a joint that is restricted or not moving well. The goal is to restore healthy joint motion and support communication between your nervous system and your body. More about adjustments.
Passive therapies. Electrical stimulation, our mechanical massage table and cold therapy to ease pain and relax tight muscles.
Massage with Westley Rowe, LMT, is also available in our office and booked separately online. Meet Westley. See massage therapy.
Active care. Exercises and stretches you can continue at home to build strength and flexibility.
For longer-term strengthening, Bobby Stewart, M.Ed., of MedFit PT offers clinical exercise and post-rehab programs at our office; his focus areas include low back and neck pain. Meet Bobby. See personal training & post-rehab exercise.
Clinical guidelines include spinal manipulation as a treatment option for low back and neck pain.

- Back pain with fever, or with unexplained weight loss

Back & neck pain questions
Can a chiropractor help with back and neck pain?
Back pain and neck pain are two of the problems our treatments most commonly help. We start with your history and a thorough exam to find what is driving your pain, then may use specific adjustments, passive therapies and exercises you can continue at home. If something needs a medical doctor or imaging, we’ll tell you.
Do I need a referral to see a chiropractor for back pain?
No. You can book online 24/7 or call (859) 737-5800. Bring your insurance card(s); that’s all you need.
Will my insurance cover chiropractic care?
We accept most insurance plans that cover chiropractic care, including plans from Anthem, Humana, UnitedHealthcare (UHC), WellCare and Aetna, and we accept Medicare, Medicare Advantage, Medicaid and Passport (Molina Healthcare). Self-pay options are also available. Coverage varies by plan, so call (859) 737-5800 and we’ll help you check yours. Hurt at work or in a crash? See work injuries or car accident injuries.
Do you take X-rays?
We don’t take X-rays in our office. If you need X-rays, we’ll refer you to an outside imaging provider.
What can I do at home between visits?
Active care is part of how we help: we show you exercises and stretches you can continue at home to build strength and flexibility. If long hours at a desk play a part, see posture & desk work.
