Dizziness & vertigo care in Winchester
Dizziness and vertigo are on the list of problems our treatments commonly help. Because dizziness has many causes, we start with a careful evaluation.
Many causes, careful first steps
Dizziness can come from the inner ear, blood pressure, medications, the heart, the brain, or the neck. Some people notice dizziness or unsteadiness together with neck pain and stiffness, sometimes after a strain or injury.
At your first visit we ask when it happens, what it feels like and what else you notice, and we examine your neck and upper back. If your symptoms point to something that needs a medical doctor, we will tell you and help you take that next step.
How we help with vertigo
Chiropractic adjustments are our main approach. When your exam shows stiff, restricted joints in the neck and upper back, specific adjustments aim to restore healthy joint motion and support communication between your nervous system and your body. Results vary from person to person, and we can’t promise that any treatment will stop vertigo.
The Epley maneuver, when it fits. One common cause of brief spinning vertigo when you roll over, lie down or look up is benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV), which involves the inner ear. When your exam points to BPPV, we may also use the Epley maneuver, a series of slow, guided head and body positions.
Supporting therapies and exercise. Electrical stimulation, our mechanical massage table and cold therapy can help relax tight neck muscles, and we’ll show you exercises to continue at home.
Bobby Stewart, M.Ed., of MedFit PT also works with balance at our office. Meet Bobby. See personal training & post-rehab exercise.

- A sudden, severe headache or vision loss
- Dizziness after a head injury
