Hip, knee & leg pain care in Winchester
Hip and leg pain is on the list of problems our treatments commonly help. Here is how we approach it.
Finding the cause
Pain in the hip or leg does not always start where you feel it. It can come from the hip joint and the muscles around it, from the pelvis, or from the low back, as with sciatica. Long hours sitting, standing on hard floors, running and lifting can all add strain.
We take a careful history and examine your low back, pelvis, hip, knee and how you walk and move. Hip, knee and back problems often go together, so we check how the whole leg moves.
Depending on what we find, we may adjust the hip or knee as well as the low back and pelvis, to restore healthy motion where it is restricted.
How we help
Specific chiropractic adjustments. A precise, controlled movement applied to a joint that is restricted or not moving well. The goal is to restore healthy joint motion and support communication between your nervous system and your body. More about adjustments.
Passive therapies. Electrical stimulation, our mechanical massage table and cold therapy to ease pain and relax tight muscles.
Active care. Exercises and stretches you can continue at home to build strength and flexibility.

When to get urgent medical care
Call 911 or go to the emergency room, rather than booking a chiropractic visit, if you have:
- A fall after which you cannot put weight on your leg
- A leg that is suddenly swollen, red, warm or painful in the calf (possible blood clot)
- Numbness in the groin or new trouble controlling your bladder or bowels
- Hip or leg pain with fever
Also at our office: Massage therapy with Westley Rowe, LMT (Meet Westley), and Personal training with Bobby Stewart, M.Ed., of MedFit PT (Meet Bobby). Both are booked separately from chiropractic visits.

Yes. Depending on what your exam shows, we may adjust the hip or knee as well as the low back and pelvis, to restore healthy motion where it is restricted.
Could my leg pain be coming from my back?
Sometimes. Pain in the hip or leg can come from the hip joint and the muscles around it, from the pelvis, or from the low back, as with sciatica. That is why we examine your low back, pelvis, hip, knee and how you walk.
